Brook Weiher, a talented softball player hailing from McAlester High School, is excited for her upcoming season with the Lady Buffs. With a remarkable journey in the sport, Weiher’s dedication and passion for softball have made her a true standout player and a role model for her teammates.
Throughout her career, Brook has had the privilege of being coached by some exceptional individuals. “I cannot choose just one certain coach who has been my favorite and impacted me as a player,” Weiher said. “Kelleya Cox coached me all the way up until my junior year and she has been the best role model for me not only as a coach but also as a person. This year we gained a new head coach, Hollye Jernigan, who was our assistant last year and became easily one of my favorite coaches I have had during my career. She made me fall in love with the game all over; she is truly one of my biggest inspirations and pushes me to be a better player.”
Apart from excelling on the field, Brook recognizes the significant impact of her 2nd-grade teacher, Mrs. Bryn Greer, who left a lasting impression on her life. “My favorite teacher was my 2nd-grade teacher, Mrs. Bryn Greer,” she said. “She made learning fun and interesting. During the year I had a medical emergency, she acted quickly and made sure I got the care I needed until the ambulance arrived. Because of her actions, she saved my life.”
To prepare for the upcoming season, Brook has been diligent in her off-season training. “During my off-season, I have been keeping my body in shape by working out and hitting regularly,” Weiher said.
Looking ahead to the season, Weiher sets her sights on growth and camaraderie. “My goal for this year is to invest in my team and grow as an individual,” she said. “Our ultimate goal is to have a winning season while also having fun. I want to enjoy my last year as a Buffalo and make as many memories as I can with my teammates and coaches.”
