Eli Pemberton, a senior at McAlester High School, stands out on the football field as a gritty wide receiver and cornerback.
Eli’s football journey has been greatly influenced by a favorite coach, Coach Mazey. “He has pushed me to be the best I can be since day one, he has given me many opportunities and has influenced me in many ways,” Eli said.
In his pursuit of success, Eli found unwavering support from his teammates. “I have felt supported by all my teammates, but one particular teammate I looked up to was Killian Barns,” he shared.
Eli’s academic life was equally enriched by a beloved teacher, Coach Stone: “He has always put God first and is never ashamed of the gospel, and I admire him in that aspect.”
To prepare for the upcoming season, Eli has focused on enhancing his physical capabilities. “Preparation I took this off season was staying in the weight room and being consistent with summer pride and summer workouts,” he said.
Eli recognizes the lessons that football has imparted to him extend beyond the field.
“Football has taught me discipline and integrity,” he noted. These principles have become an integral part of his daily life and helped shape his character.
His fondest memory in football revolves around the camaraderie and bonds formed with his teammates. The shared experiences and moments spent together are the ones Eli cherishes the most.
As he looks to the future, Eli’s goal for the season is clear: to win the state championship. His determination is unwavering as he aspires to lead his team to victory. Eli was particularly excited about the matchup against Coweta. However, the game didn’t go as planned, leading to a close loss, 28-27. This experience will surely serve as motivation for the upcoming challenges.
After high school, Eli has his sights set on furthering his education. He plans to attend Victory College and study media and ministry.
