Baseball season is quickly approaching, and Southeast Oklahoma is in full-preparation mode. Ganon Mullins, a senior at McAlester High School, is a standout in baseball, showcasing his athleticism as both a pitcher and a third baseman. “My dad is my biggest motivation,” Ganon affirmed, underscoring the pivotal role his father plays in fueling his drive for success.

For Ganon, family is paramount, with his parents and brothers serving as significant influences and role models. “My parents and my brothers are my biggest inspirations,” Ganon shared, highlighting the unwavering support that propels him forward.

In the realm of education, Shawn Calaway has had a profound impact on Ganon’s life, imparting invaluable lessons that extend far beyond the classroom. “Mr. Calaway really tries and prepares you for life,” Ganon emphasized, acknowledging the mentorship that has shaped his perspective.

Embracing failure as a steppingstone to growth has been key to Ganon’s success in baseball. Learning to navigate setbacks has been instrumental in honing his skills and solidifying his resilience on the field.

One of the defining moments in Ganon’s career was the exhilarating journey to the state level during his sophomore year, a milestone that stands out as a testament to his dedication and talent. When it comes to rivals, Bishop Kelley holds a special place as an opponent Ganon enjoys overcoming.

In the realm of teamwork, Ganon thrives on competition with his teammate Brayden Phillips. Their friendly rivalry pushes both players to elevate their game, fostering a dynamic that drives excellence within the team.

Looking ahead, Ganon’s post-high school plans involve attending Rose State College to continue his academic and baseball pursuits. Representing his school and community holds profound meaning for Ganon, as the bonds forged over years of shared experiences underscore the special significance of wearing his school’s colors with pride. “It means a lot; mostly everyone has grown up together and we’ve been playing with each other for around 12 years, so it’s pretty special.”
