On and off the soccer pitch, McAlester High School athlete Jaime Carranza personifies enthusiasm, tenacity and sportsmanship. Just 15 years old, Jaime has already had a big influence on the McAlester High soccer team as a right-wing player. With his swift footwork and strategic play, he has become a vital asset to the team’s success.
His passion for the sport is deeply rooted in his upbringing, as he acknowledges his parents as his primary motivation to excel in soccer.
In his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo, Jaime finds inspiration not only in the Portuguese superstar’s skill but also in his leadership and unwavering work ethic. “Cristiano Ronaldo, because of his leadership and his relentless work ethic.” This admiration reflects Jaime’s own commitment to pushing himself beyond his limits and continually striving for improvement.
Jaime’s pursuit of excellence extends beyond soccer to his academic endeavors. Guided by the encouragement and guidance of Ms. Anna Elliot, a teacher whose impact he deeply values, Jaime recognizes the importance of academic success alongside his athletic pursuits. “She has pushed me to study harder every day,” he said, highlighting the influential role educators play in shaping his development.
Reflecting on his soccer achievements, Jaime holds a special place for leading his team to the first round of playoffs. This milestone represents the culmination of his hard work and dedication to the sport he loves. “My highlight moment was going to the first round of playoffs,” he said.
Alongside Diego Espinoza, a teammate, Jaime found friendship and healthy rivalry from playing soccer together for years: “I grew up playing soccer with him ever since I started.”
