McAlester’s Tori Kilburn – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Patriot Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of McAlester

Tori Kilburn, a rising star at McAlester High School, carries the weight of her school’s pride on her shoulders every time she steps onto the basketball court. Hailing from a family of hard workers, Tori’s motivation stems from her unyielding dedication to her family and the unwavering support of her teammates. “My family and my teammates are my biggest motivation. They push me to be the best version of myself on and off the court.”

When asked about her role models, Tori immediately cites her father as her biggest influence, admiring his work ethic and resilience. “My dad is a hard worker. I’ve learned so much from him about perseverance and dedication,” she explained.

Reflecting on her journey, Tori reminisces about her sixth-grade teacher, Mr. Mize, who ignited her passion for basketball by introducing her to travel ball alongside her best friend and teammate, Katie Allen. “Mr. Mize got me into playing travel ball with my best friend, Katie. That’s where it all started for me,” she shared.

In the heat of competition, Tori finds joy in triumphing over Will Rogers, a team known for their spirited banter. “I enjoy beating Will Rogers because they talk a lot of noise,” she said, revealing the fierce competitor within her.

When it comes to her future, Tori’s aspirations extend beyond the court. She plans to pursue a career in nursing while continuing her basketball journey at the collegiate level. “My plans after high school are to play college basketball and become a nurse,” she stated with determination, embodying the spirit of a true scholar-athlete.

For Tori Kilburn, representing her hometown and community through basketball is not just a privilege, but a responsibility she wholeheartedly embraces. “It means everything to me. I love being able to represent my hometown by getting to play the sport I love,” she said with unwavering pride, embodying the heart and soul of McAlester High School’s athletic spirit.
