Kaden Hough’s path as a senior golfer for Broken Bow High School is characterized by commitment, tenacity and a love of the game.
Playing alongside his brother Brady, Kaden finds his biggest motivation in the competitive spirit they share. “My biggest motivation has been playing alongside my brother Brady,” he said. “He holds me accountable, and our competitive mindset causes us to do better.”
For Kaden, his parents serve as his ultimate role models, instilling in him values of self-discipline and responsibility. “My mom and dad are my two role models,” he said. “They have taught me self-discipline and responsibility.”
Influenced by fellow golfers Jaxon Jennings and Baylor Bishop, Kaden recognizes the impact they’ve had on his development as a player. “Jaxon Jennings and Baylor Bishop are my influencers for golf,” he acknowledged. “I don’t think I would be the golfer I am without those two.”
Among his teachers, Mr. Harley Thomas stands out as a significant figure who goes beyond the classroom. “He’s been my band director since sixth grade but has also taught me many life lessons and responsibilities for the real world after school.”
Success in golf, according to Kaden, requires a balance of self-control and focus. “In golf, to be successful, it takes a lot of self-control and taking it hole by hole,” he reflected. “Golf is a mental sport more than physical, but it’s also one of the hardest sports because of that.”
Reflecting on the highlights of his career, Kaden recalls the thrill of achieving 2nd place in 2023 at Cedar Creek and narrowly missing a hole-in-one. While he doesn’t have a favorite opponent to beat, he finds camaraderie in playing alongside Zeb Hamill from Wright City.
Beyond the greens, Kaden is actively involved in the Broken Bow Savage Pride Band and the Spanish club at Broken Bow High School. Looking ahead, he plans to pursue a career as a power lineman, eager to work around the country to repair electricity.
For Kaden, representing his school and community through golf is both an honor and a responsibility. “Being a part of the golf team has been a great way to represent our school, not just for myself but for the whole team.”
