Haworth’s Tyler Dillard – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by Pine Cellular 

Junior utility player Tyler Dillard from Haworth High School is a dynamic player who excels at both shortstop and catcher on the baseball diamond. Tyler’s baseball career is a nod to perseverance, hard effort and the steadfast support of his teammates and family. His father instilled in him a strong love for the game.

Reflecting on his journey, Tyler acknowledges the sacrifices made by his father and grandmother to fuel his baseball dreams. “My dad and grandma gave up so much just for me to play the game I love,” he said, highlighting the selfless dedication of his family to nurture his talent and passion for the sport. 

Guided by mentor Joey Blackard, Tyler has honed his skills on and off the field, learning to control his emotions and persevere through challenges. “Joey Blackard taught me to control my emotions and continue grinding the sport.”

A defining moment in Tyler’s career came when he clinched a state tournament championship, dedicating the victory to his late grandfather. “Walking off a state tournament championship for my grandpa that passed,” Tyler said, underscoring the emotional significance of the win and the profound impact of his family’s support on his success.

In the heat of competition, Tyler finds inspiration in facing formidable opponents like the Smithville Braves, who always provide a tough challenge on the field. “Smithville Braves—they always give a good game.”

Supported by teammates like Zayne Clampet, who pushes him to be better, and friend Gavin, Tyler thrives in an environment of camaraderie and mutual motivation. As a member of Skills USA at Kiamichi Technology Center and the National Honor Society, Tyler embodies a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

Looking ahead, Tyler hopes to continue his baseball career in college, recognizing the importance of setting an example for fans and aspiring young athletes. “It means a lot I have to show an example for the kids and fans—it’s a blessing,” Tyler said, embracing the opportunity to inspire others through his dedication, passion and love for the game.
