Jaden Steaveson is strong. He qualified for the state powerlifting meet in the 181-lb weight class, despite being a freshman competing in the same class as senior teammate Bradley Howell.
Jaden Steaveson is smart. He’s an honor student with a perfect GPA who competes
and places in academic contests.
Jaden Steaveson is adaptable. He plays both outfield and second base for the Idabel High School baseball team. His favorite position, however, is in the hot seat as pitcher for the Warriors.
“My favorite memory thus far has to be anytime coach asks me to step on the mound,” says the Warrior Sophomore-to-be.
Incoming Idabel baseball coach Sammy Lee Lopez praises his young prodigy’s multiple talents.
“Jaden is a good, hard working kid! He has a 4.0 GPA and is a multi-sport athlete. He pitched well (this past) year and pitched good innings in the playoffs.”
Steaveson has not let his youth deter him from stepping into high-pressure situations. He is
more than happy to shoulder responsibility on the diamond.
“My favorite part of the game has to be when I step on that plate and I know all eyes are on me.”
Coach Lopez anticipates an even greater future role for his budding underclassman, both at the
plate as a batter and on the mound trying to strike them out.
“Jaden is definitely going to help in the rotation this (coming) year,” Lopez replied with confidence.
Steaveson is proud to wear the red-and-black for Idabel and considers his fellow Warriors more than just a teammate.
“What makes being a Warrior special is that your fellow teammates aren’t just teammates, but rather we are family,” said the 2022 sophomore. “My personal goal is to be the best player I can for Idabel and to leave my mark on Idabel baseball.”
Given Jaden Steaveson’s talent, work ethic and intelligence, that mark is likely to become substantial over the next three seasons.
