Idabel’s Shane Threadgill born for basketball – Presented by Pine Cellular

Shane Threadgill is a sophomore at Idabel High School and plays basketball for the Warriors basketball team.

Threadgill is in his first season at Idabel playing under head coach Burtchal Griffin after spending his freshman year at Haworth High School where he was the Lions’ leading scorer. Now as a sophomore and under the leadership of coach Griffin Threadgill is looking to continue expanding his game and improving on the court over the next several years.

For Threadgill, basketball has always been a way of life.

“I’ve been playing basketball since I was able to walk,” Threadgill said. “My favorite part about it is everything. I just love playing basketball.”

So far Threadgill has found the transition into the Idabel program to be a smooth one and he looks forward to competing with the Warriors moving forward.

“I like

it here at Idabel,” Threadgill said. “I think we’re going to be really good this season. Even though we’re young I think we got a good chance to go to state.”

Although Threadgill arrived in Idabel with a proven ability to score at will, he’s been working hard over the offseason to expand other aspects of his game which he is hoping to show off this winter.

“I’ve been getting stronger and working on my lateral quickness and ball handling,” Threadgill said. “Also I’ve been trying to get better at defense and rebounding over the offseason.”

Threadgill has set some goals this season for himself both on and off the court this season.

“On the court my goals are to make it to state and improve my leadership skills. In the classroom I want to continue to get good grades.”

While Threadgill is only a sophomore in high school he has his sights set on continuing his playing career at the next level in college as well as continuing his education.

So far this season Threadgill is off to a hot start and has led the Warriors in scoring several times already. Keep an eye on him to continue turning heads in Class 3A competition for several years to come.
