The 2023 Rattan Rams Baseball Seniors

The Rattan Rams enter a new baseball season ready to build off of last season and make a deep playoff run. Head coach Michael Clay says that while last season did not end the way he and his guys had hoped but he is looking forward to seeing what they can do this season.

“Last season we lost in the first round of the state tournament to the eventual champion Dale Pirates,” he said. “It was a disappointing end to a really good season, but I feel like we are one of the top teams in Class A this season. I think we have a good chance to win it but you have to be playing well and get some breaks to win it all.”

The Rams will lean on a core group of seniors that bring a lot of playoff experience to their final high school season.
“We have five seniors that have started since their freshman year,” Clay said. “They are usually our guys year in and year out. Our pitching staff consists of juniors and sophomores that will compete and keep us in games. Putting up runs is what we sometimes struggle with when we get to the state tournament. Of course, we’ll see good pitching then but I think we don’t produce then like we do throughout the season.”

Coach Clay is looking forward to a big season from all of his guys, but especially his upperclassmen.

“Our seniors have been to every state tournament in their high school careers,” he said. “So have everyone else. They’re working really hard to make this last season the best one yet. Hopefully, they can win the last game.”
