At just ninth grade, Landi Coulter from Valliant High School is already making waves in multiple sports, including basketball, softball and cheer. As a guard on the basketball court, Coulter’s skills shine, but it’s her motivation that truly sets her apart. “My teammates, coaches and parents motivate me,” she said, highlighting the importance of support in her athletic journey.
When asked about her role model, Coulter doesn’t hesitate to mention her mother. “My role model is my mom because she has the kindest heart and always puts everyone before herself.”
Success in sports, according to Coulter, requires much time and dedication. “It has taken a lot of determination and hard work to be successful,” she said, recognizing the effort required to excel in athletics.
A memorable moment in Coulter’s athletic career came when she started in her first high school basketball game, despite the team’s limited players. “My highlight moment was getting to start in the first basketball game of my high school career, even though we didn’t have a lot of players,” she said, cherishing the opportunity to showcase her skills on the court.
When it comes to rivals, Coulter finds particular satisfaction in facing off against Wright City. “Since our rival is Wright City, I always enjoy beating them in any sport,” she admitted, displaying her competitive spirit and dedication to her team’s success.
In basketball practice, Coulter thrives on the challenge of competing against senior teammate Tayler Trapp. “In basketball practice, I always enjoyed going against Tayler Trapp, the only senior on our team, because she was more experienced and made me better at anything we did,” she mentioned, highlighting the importance of mentorship and friendly competition in her development as an athlete.
Beyond sports, Coulter is actively involved in FFA and takes pride in representing her school and community. “Representing my school and community when I play means a lot because it is something that I have dreamed of for a long time when I was younger,” she said, underscoring her commitment to being a positive role model both on and off the field.
