Wright City’s Landry Vaughn – Track Spotlight – Presented by Pine Cellular

In the small town of Wright City, in addition to being an exceptional athlete, Landry Vaughn is a role model for her classmates.

A junior at Wright City High School, Landry’s dedication to track, cross country and cheer is fueled by her unwavering motivation for achievement. “My motivation is achievement,” she stated, reflecting her ambitious mindset and drive for success.

When asked about her biggest role model, Vaughn’s admiration for track star Sydney McLaughlin shines through. “My biggest role model is Sydney McLaughlin because she represents what a true athlete is,” she explained, highlighting McLaughlin’s exemplary sportsmanship and dedication to her craft.

In Vaughn’s journey, coach Johnny Crabtree emerges as a pivotal figure. “The teacher that has had the most impact on my life would be my coach Johnny Crabtree,” she said. “Without him, our track and cross-country teams would not be where we are today.”

Success in sports, according to Vaughn, requires discipline and dedication. “It has taken me discipline and dedication to be successful in my sports. I’m so thankful to have a great coach that always pushes me to succeed.”

A defining moment in Vaughn’s athletic career came when her all-freshman relay team made its mark on the state competition. “The highlight of my career was when our all-freshman relay team made it to state in the two-mile relay,” she reminisced.

Amidst her athletic pursuits, Vaughn finds joy in working with teammate Mia Reich. “She is hardworking, optimistic and an enjoyable person to be around.”

Looking ahead, Vaughn has her sights set on attending college and furthering her track and cross-country career. “My plans after high school are to attend college, and hopefully further my track and cross-country career,” she said, displaying her ambition and determination to continue excelling in athletics.

For Vaughn, representing her school and community extends beyond the track. “Representing my school and community means setting good examples for our younger students to look up to,” she affirmed, emphasizing the importance of leadership and mentorship in fostering a supportive and inspiring environment for future generations. With her remarkable talent and unwavering determination, Landry Vaughn is poised to leave a lasting legacy in the world of track and cross country.
