Cousins Jabari and Shane Threadgill have been playing basketball together since they were in elementary school, but this season is their first wearing Idabel Warriors threads.
The duo moved in from Haworth before the 2022-23 season. Shane, a sophomore, led Haworth in scoring and rebounding as a freshman; Jabari, now a junior, was an instrumental scorer and rebounder in his own right.
VYPE: How’s your first season at Idabel going? What do you want to see happen with this team this year?
Jabari: First season is going good so far. I want to see us go to state and see us win.
Shane: I like it here at Idabel. I think we’re going to be really good this season even though we’re young. I think we’ve got a chance to go to state.
VYPE: What other activities and sports do you play?
JT: I just play ball. I used to run track.
ST: I really haven’t played any sports other than basketball. Coming from Haworth, it wasn’t really much I could choose from. I ran track and I like that, but that’s about it.
VYPE: Who was been your favorite teacher at Idabel so far?
JT: My favorite teacher at Idabel has been Mrs. Wooten.
ST: Mrs. Harvison.
VYPE: Between you two, who wins: a game of one-on-one, a game of NBA 2K, and a 100-meter dash?
JT: Shane would win the 1v1. I would win the game of 2K and the 100m dash.
ST: It’s a close one on the 100m dash, but yes, I’m winning all three.
