VYPE: Where did you get your start coaching?
Sundberg: My first job was in Colbert, OK as an assistant baseball coach.
VYPE: What is the message to the athletes at Broken Bow under your guidance and leadership?
Sundberg: We have great students and great student athletes at Broken Bow. My message is to do your best and work hard everyday and don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something.
VYPE: Do you have a coaching or teaching mentor? Someone you have looked up to or call on for advice?
Sundberg: I have several mentors, but the first guy I worked for, Johnny Cardenas, taught me the game of baseball and I thank him because it has become a passion for me. I get my work ethic from my parents and my high school o-line coach Tommy Holt.

VYPE: Tell me what you have come to love most about Broken Bow, your athletes, and where is the future of the program headed?
Sundberg: The people I work with are what I have come to love the most about Broken Bow. My superintendent, assistant superintendent, building principals, coaching staff, teachers, custodians, cafeteria workers, maintenance crew, bus workers, and everyone else. This is the best group I have ever worked with and Broken Bow is not just a school, we are a family. To the student athletes, thank you for all your hard work and I will continue to work to help us have the best programs and facilities in Southeast Oklahoma.
VYPE: Who gets a big shout out from AD Sundberg?
Sundberg: My wife and kids. My job requires long hours and my family is so unselfish. They are my rock and I couldn’t be successful without them.
