McAlester

Getting to Know McAlester Volleyball’s Mallori Marchant – Presented by Jim Jeffreys Shelter Insurance

VYPE: What are your personal goals this year?

Mallori: I hope to get better at digging hard hits and I hope for the team to beat the teams we haven’t beat yet.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

Mallori:  The most fun I’ve had was the home games, the atmosphere has changed so much, the student section makes the games 10x more exciting with them cheering with us.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Mallori: My favorite teacher had to be Mrs. Guthrie in the sixth grade. She made math class so fun and it was the first time I felt good at math.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Mallori: My favorite athletic memory was playing Muskogee last year and taking a set off of them which made them really mad. It showed McAlester wasn’t an easy win anymore.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Mallori: Samantha Moore, her energy was something else on the court. She was the loudest on the team and no matter what she was always cheering for our point even if we were up by 10. She never backed down and was always hyping up everyone at practice and games.

VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?

Mallori: I would have to say Jacy Berry and Abigail Estrada. They are always doing the funniest things at practice that just makes everyone laugh and relieve tension if it’s not so good practice.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Mallori: It’s hard to pick just one but definitely Italy so I can eat awesome food all day long and go sightseeing. I would bring my mom so we could go on awesome adventures!

VYPE: If you had $500 and had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?

Mallori: In all honesty I probably would end up just saving it because I’m never in the shopping mood.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Mallori: To LeeAnn I’m so glad we got to spend one year of high school and a season of volleyball together. I can’t wait to come back and watch you grow and play the sport we both have grown to love. I can’t wait to see what you do. I love you lil cuz. To my family, thank you for all your support with all my dance recitals, volleyball games, band competition, concerts, and getting me there and anywhere I needed to be. Always showing up to every event I have, even when I would be exhausted. When all I wanted to do was complain, y’all never let me and would always be positive, even if it aggravated me.  To Coach Smith, you have been the best coach, you’ve believed in me since day one when I was a little freshman with no experience with volleyball whatsoever. I truly will miss you so much once the season is over knowing I won’t be coming back next season. But this time next year I’ll be in the stands cheering on the next group of girls. #7 out!
