McAlester’s Addy Nooner – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By BancFirst of McAlester

Mindset…by definition is the driving force in the quest for success and achievement. A mindset that combines discipline, strength, confidence and ambition is powerful capable to achieve anything it sets its sights on.  Such is the passion of Addy Nooner and her love for the game of soccer and drive to play the game at its best.

“It’s one thing to want to be the best but first you must commit yourself to getting better everyday,” replied the 2022 graduate who was named to the Class 5A East All-State soccer team. “I feel like I’m successful because of my work ethic.”

Nooner joined her McAlester soccer teammate Allison Bond along with her coaches Charlette Moss, Rebecca Ruiz, and Ashley Todd to compete in the All-State contest. The head coach of the Lady Buffaloes soccer program praised the leadership efforts of Nooner to make everyone around her better players.

“Addy is the player that has a high skill level and is willing to teach and encourage less skilled players as they learn,” said Moss.

Helping her teammates, on and off the pitch is how Nooner strives to make the best of her talents making character count for good in every situation.

“The character of a person is everything about them that sets them apart from other people. Because everyone has different qualities, strengths, and weaknesses, there’s always room for growth,” she said. “I do my very best to always have a positive attitude and a willingness to help out others.”

Describing herself as ambitious and passionate about the game of soccer, Nooner says good communication is part of her responsibilities at the forward position on the lineup card.

“My position requires having to always be mobile and help my teammates in any situation that I can as well as being very vocal,” Nooner explained emphasizing the importance for communication. “I call it motivation. I just try to amp up my teammates with a short pregame speech or just bringing up past events and bring like ‘hey guys we CAN do this’.”

With her high school soccer experience in the rear view mirror, Addy Nooner will take her skills and inspiration to the next level where she will play the game she loves at Bacone College while pursuing a degree in Biology and continue to heed the advice of her dad.

“’Always give everything in life your very best, everyday’. My dad’s words, I hear them loud and clear and strive to follow them every step of the way.”
